Me, outside of my office. Not really. When I’m not in front of a computer monitor, I enjoy Montana’s splendor at places like the old fire tower on the summit of Casey Peak. |

About Me |
|
Weg Computer Forensics, LLC, is a Montana limited liability company managed exclusively by me, Jimmy Weg. I began my training in computer forensics in 1995, and have taken hundreds of hours of training since. In 2002, I set up the Computer Crime Unit of the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation, Montana Department of Justice. I have been the Agent in Charge of the Computer Crime Unit since that time, and I conduct and supervise criminal investigations and computer forensics in cases in which a computer plays a role. I’ve processed hundreds of computers for evidence for local, state, and federal agencies. I’ve testified as an expert on computer forensics in state and federal district courts throughout Montana, and I’ve lectured on that subject at colleges and universities and before a wide range of professional audiences. I serve as an evaluator of computer forensic software and hardware for major corporations. Since 2001, I’ve been a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner, a designation awarded by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists. I have about 30 years of law enforcement experience, which focused on the investigation of economic and white collar crime. My experience also includes the development of the Securities Enforcement Division of the Montana State Auditor’s Securities Department and the management of Montana’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. I’ve also served as a senior examiner of securities broker-dealers in New York City. My complete resume is available upon request. Because I am a law enforcement officer employed by a criminal justice agency, I limit my private practice to civil and administrative cases and non-judicial matters, to avoid conflicts of interest. Should I be unable to accept an assignment for any reason, I’d be happy to refer prospective clients to a capable examiner. My private practice is separate and distinct from my employment with a government agency. |

Me, again, on the summit of Crow Peak, the highest point in the Elkhorn Mountains (9,414 ft.). My notebook’s in my backpack; wireless access up here “rocks”! |
